Bad Nieuweschans (population as of 2001: 1570) is a town in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Oldambt, about 12 km east of Winschoten. Close to the town is the easternmost point of the Netherlands.

Bad Nieuweschans is a small town surrounded by large fortifications built in the Eighty Years' War(1628), located on the Dutch-German border.

Nieuweschans was a separate municipality until 1990, when it became a part of Reiderland.
Reiderland merges with Winschoren en Scheemda to the municipality of Oldambt(01/01/2010).
Since November 12th of 2008 the official name of the village is Bad Nieuweschans.
The changing of the name is caused by the sourcewater that is pomped from a depth of about 600 meter and is used in the spa Fontana Bad Nieuweschans. More than 200,000 people visit thermal bath each year.
